Geek Fashion Week is coming & it sounds pretty awesome

 

 

Geek Fashion Week is Mar 23-Mar 29 and there’s a lot planned, all of which sounds pretty dang awesome. They sent me over a press release with all the info, so I wanted to share. ;-)

 

This March, level up your fashion with Espionage Cosmetics, ThinkGeek and Her Universe  for the first annual Geek Fashion Week from March 23-29, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA.

Geek Fashion Week is not your average event – it is a gathering of the Alpha Geeks: The popular and well-known representatives of various fandoms and geeky lifestyles. Geek Fashion Week aims to engage fans, provide practical how-to guides and to build connections between fans, retailers and designers.

Geek Fashion Week will consist of both online content (a weeklong series of articles and video content and two online styling/design contests) and activities in the Los Angeles area (a Kickoff networking event, a Style Faire/Fashion Show/After-Party and a Couture Pajama Brunch). These events will launch a journey of discovery in fashion through a series of instructive in-person panels and online content.

The idea of styling geeks has never been explored to such a high degree, and the day of geeks depicted as unfashionable and unpopular is a thing of the past.

Geek Fashion Week is an organization dedicated to empowerment in the geek community through personal expression. The aim is to build confidence through fashion and personal style, as well as awareness of our communities and ideals through geeky representation.

Sponsors such as Espionage Cosmetics, ThinkGeek and Her Universe have already stepped onto the runway and everyone will be learning from each other and connecting. Geek Fashion Week is an opportunity to create brand ambassadors for already favored organizations and newcomers alike!

From March 23-29, GeekFashionWeek.net will host a series of articles and video content dedicated to a variety of topics of interest to any fashionable geek. We will showcase some of our favorite designers and retailers, provide practical how-to guides, give commentary on new geek fashion trends and pair up with Fashionably Nerdy to host a series of video spotlights.

Our “Super Style” Online Design Contest is asking for fans to design a fashionable costume for an original superhero (or supervillain) and an everyday fashion design for their Alter Ego.
