Idle thought.

My middle of the night wander had me awake at 4:45.

Hopped on Wow, got a couple dailies done and got the server reset message.

15 minutes wait.

So, here I sit, by only the light of the laptop at 5:25, listening to the rain fall outside and catching up pn Google Reader.

It's nicely calm.

...and not something I could have imagined when I was a kid.

Well, save for the rain. I do love the sound of the rain.

The #BoobieWed Geek Girl Edition Calendar. Geek Girls Take It Off For Breast Cancer Awareness.

This is the #BoobieWed Geek Girl Edition Calendar.

If you’re not familiar with Boobie Wednesday on Twitter, the goal of #BoobieWed to help raise money and awareness to fight breast cancer as well as be a little playful about it.

So, in the spirit of fun and making a difference, Natali Heuss of Uber Dork Cafe wrangled geek girls from all over Twitter  and asked them to pose in their best geek babe pin up style. You can read more about Natali and the story behind the creation of the calendar here.

Proceeds from the calendar go to support the Young Survival Coalition and Feel Your Boobies and all geek girls involved donated their time and efforts to the project.

I know it's silly, but I just dealt with an hours worth of guild drama with people I play Warcraft with.

I cried during most of it.

I have no idea if that makes me a geek or just too damn sensitive.

But, it still sucks.

I need a good diversion.

Dear Annie Barrett at the Entertainment Weekly...(a rant)

Maybe I'm showing my age a bit here, and if I am, oh well.

Will Ferrell & John C. Reilley have a new video over at Funny or Die for the holidays. It's a parody of the original David Bowie/Bing Crosby duet of Peace on Earth and Little Drummer Boy from back in the 70's.

I liked it. That's not at issue here. I understand parody and this was really well done. Not to mention, highlights them as singers.

But what irritates me is this reaction by Annie Barrett over at Entertainment Weekly.

Using terms like "eerie" and "mind blowing" makes it sound like this was some sort of joke when Bowie and Crosby did it back in the 70's. It wasn't. It was a holiday special (which we seemed to have a lot of back then) and, while it was an odd pairing (there's a Washington Post story that has a lot of detail on how it came together), it created one of the best duets around.

Y'know, Annie. It's easy to mock something as "weird" or "eerie" when you likely aren't old enough to know what it meant to those of use who were there or understand that a lot of us watching knew Crosby had died just before this aired, so it had additional meaning. But I'm sorry you don't get just how cool this duet was for us who saw this the first time around. Because it was really something special.

Now, that said, here's both of them. The singing's better on the original, but Ferrell and Reilley are pretty kick ass.

Doctor Who Dalek Car Decals. OMG.

There are times that I feel a little left out or wistful when I see those family car decals on minivans because, since I never plan to have kids, I have no reason to have one on my car.

Until now.

p.s. A friend of mine snapped this while he was on vacation in Florida. I have no idea who makes them, but I want them. So if you have any info, please, please, please let me know.

Hot, Female Warcraft "Pro" Explains "Cataclysm" (My brain melts) Updated*

I..um..I..seriously?

Part of me wants to get angry and rant about the fact that videos like this are one of the reasons people don't take girls playing Warcraft seriously.

But part of me is so utterly fascinated that this even exists that I just...can't..think.



Someone has to tell me who this chick is. I'm betting she's some sort of porn star trying to "titillate" her male followers. But I think porn stars are smarter than this young lady.

Hang Over Monday: Grant Imahara Can Build Me A Robot That Wears A Bra That Shoots Grappling Hooks?

One of the things I like best about Twitter is the fact that, if you're in the mood to chat, you're usually able to find an interesting conversation. If you add the fact that I follow a bunch of geek girls like Star Wars blogger Bonnie Burton, awesomely naughty fellow Nerd Approved bloggers Amy Ratcliffe &  Jill Pantozzi, and Mythbuster Grant Imahara -- well, odds are good that the conversation will go from "interesting" to raucous in no time.

Things That Caused Me To Make Noise This Morning (Updated and now NSFW ::grin::)

Neither of things is related, and yet they both caused me to make some really unique noises this morning.

Update: I just saw this. I have no number for it. It's definitely not SFW, hilarious and makes me think the Germans are wayyyyyyyy more laid back than most people may think.

The new Living Dead Dolls set is called "Things With Wings". I think it needs to be subtitled "OMG NEED". Actually, I think I can safely say "Mine!"

(I know it says coming in May of next year, but given my experience with how these sell, I think it'll pre-sell out way before that. So if you want it, I'd suggest pre-ordering since you don't actually pay till it arrives in May.)
