In Which I Semi-Rant About Glee And Prove What A Dork I Am

I'm going to preface this by saying I'm a huge Gleek. I watch the show faithfully and I love it. I also really liked a lot about last night's episode (big ups to Heather Morris on the Brittany/Britney numbers. You go girl!).

However, a couple things are sticking in my craw today and so, while I'm not really ranty, I thought I'd toss 'em out.

1) Will Schuester is danger of becoming "that drama teacher". You know the one I mean. The one who wasn't good enough to make it out in the real world so he lives through his students and inserts himself into any production possible to show off. Last night's episode was another example and, while I know it was part of the story, it's not the first time.
Here's the problem/ Will actually is talented. There's no reason he can't be a teacher who decided to teach instead of going through all of the ups and downs of trying to be in the industry. Steady jobs are sexy these days and so is someone who wants to encourage others to follow their dreams. But I think it means that Will has to be okay with the choice he made.  There are lots of ways to work Matthew Morrison's skills into the show. But if the writer's aren't careful, Will's going to look more pathetic than positive.
2) Why are there no geeks in Glee Club?
Think about it. We have jocks and cheerleaders and goths and the flamboyant gay kid. We have a Diva and even a kid in a wheelchair. But you're telling me that there's not a bookish, geeky, DnD, gamer kid in Glee?
While reminiscent of high school and the AV nerds we all knew and loved, the closest thing to a geek Glee gives us is a couple kids who are socially below the Glee kids (and when you go with the premise that the Glee kids are low on the totem pole, that's pretty low.)
3) Speaking of which, why are the Glee kids as "lame" as they are within the McKinley High social strata? I'm not saying drama and Glee kids weren't considered strange when I went to school, but plenty of kids went to the shows when I was in school. Plus, in this case, the Glee kids are talented. You're not talking about an assembly in which the rest of the school is subjected to off-key harmony and bad breakdancing.
Let's have a little reality. The Empire State Of Mind number last week was really good and you'd have a hard time convicing me that an entire school would have watched that and then just sort of said "meh.
Which means, the Glee kids have to suck less or the school may have to give them just a bit more standing. One less slushy to the face would be a nice start ;-)
4) Finally. I'm sorry, I'm gonna say it. Rachel Berry has no redeeming qualities.
She's neurotic, she's selfish, she's a Diva, she's a brat and -- say what you want -- I don't remember a kid in my drama classes who sat and watched our local Diva sing and smiled. We dealt with her, we tolerated her, but we didn't like her and we didn't hang out with her.
Personally, I wish Quinn hadn't done her the favor of that little locker trick last night. I wish Quinn had told her to go screw herself. Because it was a crappy thing to make Quinn do and, seriously, I'd be okay with a little open animosity on the show.
In my opinion, Rachel needs something to make her likable. Otherwise, I'm gonna start rooting for Mercedes and Kurt to get all the solos and hope that Quinn and Finn get back together.

Hm. Guess I did have a few things to say ;-)

Oh P.S. I like Emma with Carl. And John Stamos was rather adorable. I hope he can sing.

Edit: Twitter informs me he can ;-)

Picture of Snooki in Need of a Caption. Seriously ;-)

Hey, I'm sleepy and this made me lol. However, I know you guys are way funnier than I am.

So, please. If you will, help me find a perfect caption for this pic of Jersey Shore's Snooki?

Morning Rambles

I can tell real life has been intruding subconscious, because I just woke up from a dream in which I was trying to convince people that letting the Bush tax cuts expire for the top 2% meant that more people in the Warcraft universe could have an epic flying mount.

For the record, I didn't mean an "in game" one. I meant a real one. ::grin:: Which caused me to wake up and wonder how many people would oppose it if they knew they were going to get a dragon.

Yeah, that's my brain for you.

Of course, now I'm awake and trying to decide if I should go back to bed or play WoW for a while. On top of it, I was told I have the Collector's Edition of  World of Warcraft: Cataclysm on pre-order as a b-day gift, so it may be worthwhile to jump in and start researching some of the new changes...

...see how it is?

::wry grin:: I should be asleep. I'm not.

If you're reading, what the heck are you doing awake and did you dream about dragons?

It's My Birthday and Here's What I Want ;-)

It's my birthday and, because I only get this chance once a year, I get to tell you what I want ;-)

1) Tell someone today how much they mean to you. The best thing you can give anyone is your time and attention, especially in this day and age where we move so fast.

If fact, I'll start. I think you're amazing. No, that's not a line. I really do think people are amazing and I appreciate the fact that some days it's work just getting out of bed in the morning. You live, you love, you soldier on and that's really amazing.

2) If I get to dream, I want Nathan Fillion and Gavin DeGraw to wish me a happy birthday. ::grin::

3) If you read this blog and like it, them tell a friend. I made a decision this year to follow a dream and one of the big things I have to do as a part of that is up my traffic so I can do things like get advertising.

There's also a new GGD Facebook page and if it's easier to click like and share on Facebook, there should be that option right to the right of this post on my blog.

4) Finally, what I really want more than anything is for all of us to be happy. To smile, and be loved and enjoy the people around us.

I hope I get my wish ;-)

Much love,
GGD

I'm Now Dead After Seeing This: David Tennant in Fright Night

Hi. Um. I know I've been posting a lot, but I should warn you that I may not be posting again any time soon because...

...I am now dead after looking at this picture of David Tennant in Fright Night.

Oh. My. God. I. Can't. Breathe.

David Tennant with eyeliner, long hair, a bare chest and low rise leather pants?

Heaven. I must be in heaven.

The Inquisition is On at Black Phoenix with Trick or Treat

Halloween is coming and The Inquisition is on at Black Phoenix Trading Post.

BPTP and BPAL are giving you a chance to Trick or Treat and, just like a kid making the candy rounds, there's chance involved in what you get. ;-)

You might get a Treat...

... you will receive a bottle of one of these Black Phoenix Treat perfume oils, chosen at random:

Ginger Skulls – Zingy crystallized ginger candies with quince and Asian pear.
OR
Licorice Bats – Black licorice with cacao nibs and anise.
OR
Marshmallow Pumpkin – Marshmallow goo and pumpkin pulp! And yes – this, too, is vegan!

Or you may get Tricked...

Bogle – A garish shellycoat: red currant, Spanish mandarin, pumpkin, quince, wild blueberry, and ginger with green tea, vanilla bean, frankincense, tonka, and vetiver.
OR
Muilearteach – Blood red, bone white, and pitch black musks coated in hoarfrost.
OR
Slaugh – Champaca, black tea, tonka bean, and sassafras.

And you can even get an Inquisition Pack which includes a soap, t-shirt, and oil.

Plus, if you purchase an Inquisition pack, you will receive a small spritzer bottle of White Pumpkin Extrait and a Wad of Chewed Up Strawberry Bubblegum (an impful!). White Pumpkin and Wad are not available separately.

However, if you want to get in on the action, you better do it soon. According to the site, "You have until October 10th, 2010, at which point the Imps and Goblins will retire to their conference room and cease to accept orders."

P.S. I have the Trick and Treat soaps in my hot little hands that I might just give away if you want to plead your case here. (you can view them here)

P.P.S. I just found out that BPAL has a new blog called the Black Phoenix Gazette. You may wanna follow because there may be mischief ahead.

10 Minutes of the New Bioshock: Infinite Game. I am in Love

I just sat in rapt, gleeful, bloodthirsty, breathless wonder for 10 minutes.

This...

...is amazing.

This is 10 minutes of (sexy, Steampunk, nihilistic, exquisite) gameplay from the new Bioshock: Infinite.

As Rob from Topless Robot mentioned in his story, it's hard to tell what's scripted and what's player generated, but it's 100% amazing and I'm so excited to see this in person.

Today's Guilty Pleasures: Dancing with the Stars, SYTYCD & Gossip Sites.

I preface this by saying -- Don't judge me ;p

While I was going through my feeds today, I came across this gem in Crazy Days and Nights.

This is Kyle Massey (who?) last night on DWTS. I watched the clip because Enty seemed to really like him, so I clicked.

Thoughts:

1) Talk about proof that you don't have to be a size 0 to be sexy or be able to dance. ::grin:: Not that I haven't known that for ages, but it's still nice to see in the media.

2) Not so sure about Lacey as a blonde and did she get a boob job? Dunno. Truth be told, I've always had a crush on her brother Benji (I'll get to that in a minute).

Just watch it. If you just wanna see the dance, it starts at 2:44. And I defy you not to smile.

And, just because I mentioned Benji. I found this lovely solo piece...

..and Benji & Donyelle. My fave couple evar.

The Drama by 3dBiPolarBear

I just made inappropriate noises about this Sucker Punch Amber statue. Rawr.

I was checking the EE new additions, saw a link that said Sucker Punch Amber Statue and clicked because, well, I'm stoked for the movie.

My reaction?

Said out loud and in varying degrees of surprise (and maybe just a little lust)...

"Whoa. Whoa.....whoa."

"Dude."

"Hot."

See why?

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick is clearly insane.

Y'know how you read something and you think it's a joke, and then you realize it's not supposed to be a joke?

I'm on Twitter and @maximuspaynicus tweets: *blink, blink* Homeboy done lost his goddamned mind... http://bit.ly/ckPXJz (via @georgeb3dr)

So, I click and the IGN headline reads: Activision 'Likely' To Sell Game Cutscene Movies

Pause for a sec with me and think about that..

I'll admit, the SCII stuff looks good. Heck, so does the WoW stuff. But the acting leaves something to be desired and...they do range a bit to the over dramatic, y'know?

So, okay. He wants to release them. I'm thinking, okay, they're gonna let you DL them from iTunes for a couple bucks a pop or directly from your BattleNet account. Make it easier to see them without questing or searching YouTube.

Nope.

According to the article, "Kotick said StarCraft II's in-game cinematics are so good that the publisher could edit them into one film and distribute it to fans digitally".

For $20 - $30 bucks a pop.

Bobby Kotick thinks gamers are willing to blow more on Blizz cut scenes than most of the items on Amazon's "Coming Soon" DVD's, Blu-Rays &  DVD box sets?

Um...

Someone get the man his meds. Please?

Back to the Future is a secret sado sexual, racist, incestuous manifesto!

Thanks to Topless Robot, I can share Cracked.com's breakdown of why Back to the Future is secretly horrifying. I'm not gonna lie, I busted out laughing a number of times. I feel like I need to do some sort of penance for that /grin

Side note: I am so the chick in this conversation. Except my reading of "Is that your black voice?" would have included a slap to the head.

Monday Squee: I'm a Warrior, Bitch. ;-)

There are moments I look at my life and I'm just amazed and thrilled by it.

Friday, Steven E. Gordon (animator extraordinaire), tossed out an offer for special requests and I tossed mine out there.

Honestly, I didn't have an expectation, I figured there would be plenty of requests.

This lovely pic was part of his blog post today. (And you Legend and Star Wars fans are gonna wanna look at the post. Trust me.)

Okay, seriously, I know people tend to want to mess with Christina Hendricks' figure, but this is bloody ridiculous.

From Doctor Who in a towel to David Tennant kisses. How did I get here?

Having just gotten to "The Lodger" in my catching up of Doctor Who (Season 5, btw), I can heartily tell you I have a sudden and passionate hate for blue towels.

Now, while there's some question as to whether I would have liked the view if the towel dropped (and I'll be honest, I like the view just fine already), I still say "Bah!".

And, if you look at the pic my girl Jill Pantozzi got with him (you can read the interview here) he's just fine and dandy clothed ;-)

Speaking of Doctors...I found this awesome pic of David Tennant and Catherine Tate from "Nan's Christmas Carol" for the BBC. I swear, he's sexy.

Then this one...

And then I found this video of David Tennant kissing...well..lots of people..

And...um...I totally forgot my point.

...I'll be in my bunk.

My Random thoughts for the morning. Doctor Who and a masturbating James Franco?

Feel free to share your random thoughts, or comment on mine. It's one of those days I wish I was discussing these things over coffee ;-)

1) If the Doctor ends up places without having set the TARDIS to have taken him there and he discovers a time issue when he gets there, then is the TARDIS choosing? Or does the The Doctor change things when he arrives? (I'm just worried that we'll get into that funky territory where God was Leaping Sam Beckett around, y'know?)

2) According to Nerve.Com, James Franco Masturbates a lot. My reaction? Um...how is it news? Seems to me. any man with loads of free time and a paycheck would be sitting around doing the same thing, so is it news that he actually said it to a reporter? ::grin::

3) ThinkGeek has an umbrella that looks like a Blade Runner prop. Want!

Win the new Pumpkin Latte from BPAL just in time for the holiday;-)

If you missed the tweets, last Friday I did a BPAL drink n' sniff  at the Tonga Hut Tiki Bar with several of the L.A. geek babes.

Many of the upcoming Halloween scents and other new Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab oils were passed around (and given away) and I'm figuring you'll see a few stories here and there if you follow the ladies.

However, I didn't want to leave out folks who couldn't make it, so I saved one of the oils to give away to a reader.

This is the new 2010 Pumpkin Latte Halloween blend.

Sorry, I know the pic is blurry. My phone was being ornery. But it says..

"Pumpkin Latte - prototype - not for sale" *

Scent: Espresso, pumpkin syrup, smoky vanilla bean, milk, raw sugar, and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg.

If you'd like to enter to win, just RT the following and you're all set. Or, if you're not on Twitter, just comment with a link to where you posted this post.

RT by 8am pst 9/8 and enter to win the new @bpal Pumpkin Latte Halloween 2010 Oil at www.geekgirldiva.com

See? Easy ;-)

*please note - this is a prototype and, due to the collectible nature of it, I understand you'd be tempted to try and make a profit off it by selling it on eBay or the like. Please don't. The folks at BPAL were kind enough to give it to me because they trust my judgement and because they hope it'll go to someone who'd really like it. Additionally, it'll allow me to do other giveaways of this sort in the future. your cooperation and understanding is appreciated.

I found a way to give gifts in my jammies. Sweet.

I preface this by saying I don't get a commission for this, but if you do buy something it helps a friend out ;-) I also think it's really cool. Okay, disclaimer out of the way. Mwah!

My friend Michael works for a company called SendOutCards.com and, while they may be a multi level marketing program and do all kinda of business building affiliates, I think their retail promo sucks.

Here's the short version.

If you have an account with SendOutCards, you can send actual physical greeting cards from the comfort of your home and computer. You can use your online address book, you never have to get out of your jammies, and you can personalize them with pictures, signatures and gifts.

So, all the benefits of sending an actual card without having to go out to the store and buy a card or gift, at a price that's comparable or less than the cost of an actual greeting card.

Case in point? I got this in the mail from Michael this weekend.

(For the record, he's early on my b-day, but he didn't tell me not to open it. heh)

Anyway, the box contained brownies (nom) and a card (yay) personalized and signed by Michael and his wife.  If you consider how busy he and I both are, the odds of us meeting up to make this happen in person (on time) are slim to none.

But he was able to do this on his his own time, from home (doing heaven knows what, I don't want to know) and I got a lovely present.

This is why I think the SendOutCards retail site blows.

Because this is actually a really cool service. It doesn't cost a lot. It's easy and, considering how busy everyone is, it seems like a super smart way to go for the holidays.

You can check it out here (yes, that's Michael smiling away on the site) and send a card or two if you're up for it.

I mean, think about it -- $2.99 is less than you'd pay at the drugstore for a card and you don't have to put on pants ;-)

Want to be or seduce a VILF? ;-)

When awesome things get handed to me, I have a habit of wanting to share. ;-)

I have in my possession, a copy of Vampires Don't Sleep Alone: Your Guide to Meeting, Dating and Seducing a Vampire and two bottles of VILF from the folks at BPAL.

Wanna win the book and one of the oils?

*VILF scent description: Vampire smut: patchouli-infused honey, red musk, red sandalwood, red ginger, pink pepper, Peru balsam, dark Eastern florals, Himalayan cedar, smoky vanilla, bitter clove, and leather.

This post has no title (just words and a tune? I need Elton this early?)

I honestly have no focus right now, so I thought I'd share the random links of my morning.

Just saw a review for Black Swan (thanks @damiella) and I'm stoked to see it.
